Southern Connecticut State University
is the only college I have ever been to and toured inside. It sounds crazy but
it’s true. What’s even harder to believe is that I accepted my admissions offer
and confirmed my attendance before ever even having step foot on campus. For
some reason SCSU had a place in my heart and I knew it was the one. The only
reference I had of what college would look like was from television and the internet.
Like a child I always fantasized about the day I would go to college and I am
proud to say that the day has finally come.
To
several people college is an institution where they can become educated and one
day become what they’ve always dreamed of, but to me just being here is a dream
fulfilled in itself. I had my doubts growing up, but thankfully things worked
out in my favor making it possible for me to have my chance at a higher
education. Now my plans involve making my adventure here a success. I am aware
that it is going to take an enormous amount of time and effort to accomplish my
goal of making Dean’s list but that is something I am willing to work towards. At
orientation the ambassadors warned us that things would be different than high
school but now reality has made its way up to the surface. My biggest concerns are
grades, time management, and finances. I also hope that I will be able to become
more involved in the community and socially interact with my fellow Owls.
My long
term wish is to one day become a registered nurse. Until then I want to make
the most out of the opportunities that are presented to me each day. Alongside
my classmates I am looking forward to making many long lasting friendships and
memories. Through days and nights of class, homework, clubs, and social events
I know there will be a light at the end of the tunnel and the class of 2017
will work towards reaching it together.
