We are constantly reminded of how beneficial it is to
repeatedly make self-reflections and also perform peer-evaluations. The reason for
this is because they make us aware of our strengths and weaknesses. Another
benefit is that they also provide us with insight on different possible ways to
improve. It helps us find inspiration and also leads to our growth and
improvement. This week we had the privilege to watch the bits and pieces that
everyone has put together so far for the drafts of their videos. After watching
more and more of them there are several things that I learned.
One of the things that I witnessed was how easy it is to
unnoticeably end up putting too many words on one slide. This is something that
many of us were guilty of doing even though it’s been mentioned in class that
most people won’t even bother reading slides if there are far over fourteen
words on them. Another thing I noticed was how boring videos that have no
pictures or visuals can be. I also became aware of the importance of making
sure that the color, size, and font allow the writing to be visible. A benefit
of watching the videos on the big screen is that it makes it easier to spot any
technical problems and mistakes such as spelling errors and unbalanced sound.
Lastly some thing I learned is that sometimes we don’t give the viewer enough
time to read all the contents of the slides.
I think that watching everyone’s videos was very helpful
and that being able to get individual feedback from everyone in the class was
an advantage. I am now more aware of what I am going to fix in my video such as
splitting up the writing on some slides, turning up the volume a bit, slowing
down the slides that they said went by too quickly, and going a little more
into depth about some of the concepts that I brought up. Hopefully, after I
make all my changes my final draft will meet my audience’s expectations.
