10A:The Mystery of Technology

When we were first assigned the video project I immediately began to panic. Since the very beginning of this class it had become clear to me that I was not a “tech savvy” person. I am not very involved on the internet and I don’t own a smartphone. Knowing I was going to have to do something I had never done before stressed me out. It reminded me of how I felt when I found out I was going to have to become a blogger. I thought of how I was able to work through my difficulties then and attempted to do so once again.

Since I don’t own an IMac I had to figure out another way that I could use IMovie. I knew that it was going to take me a long time to finish and that I don’t get a lot of work done when I’m surrounded by other people so I didn’t use the school’s computer lab. Fortunately, I was able to go to my sister’s house and use her Mac. I had no idea how to use IMovie so I spent hours learning how to work it and also called my cousin at times for advice. Eventually, I was able to make my video.

I’m grateful that I was able to get individual feedback and advice on my rough draft because it allowed me to make the necessary changes and improve my work for the final draft. I would give myself an A on this project because I put a lot of time and effort into it. Although it took me trial and error to find out how to export the file and upload it to YouTube, in the end everything worked out and I was able to get it done before the deadline. If I could change or add anything to my video I would probably try to add more pictures in the middle where it had mostly information and instructions.

I am proud to say that I was able to work past my inexperience and yet again accomplish something even though it was new for me. In my opinion I think I did a good job of fulfilling the requirements. I had a beginning, middle, and clear end. I used background music, pictures, and video to make it more intriguing and seem like a story. I posed questions and gave people things they could think about. I included specific information on what SCSU has to offer pertaining to my topic of the Nursing Major. There was an intro slide with the title and my name. I used transitions in between every part of the video so that it would play nicely. I also fulfilled the time requirement and included quotes from 3 students and one faculty member. Lastly, my video was posted on time and was available for public viewing as requested. Altogether I think it was a great learning experience and I can already notice a difference in my acquaintance with technology.
