13A: College Thinkers

Unsurprisingly, we are expected to demonstrate a high level of college level thinking in our work. As we have discussed this kind of thought is known as ‘critical thinking’ or ‘higher-order thinking’. This is the concept of gathering information and then being able to interrelate it with other ideas that have been proposed to come to logical conclusions and solutions to certain situations. After selecting the topic for my Final Video Project the first thing I thought about was how I am going to achieve work that is considered to be at the college level. Then I brainstormed some ideas of how I plan to accomplish this.

The project entails us to propose a problem some first year students might be faced with and then to offer a possible solution to such a problem. The problem my video is going to put forward is not being successful with studying and then it will offer a solution with tips and techniques on how to achieve better studying results. I plan to use some reliable and informative resources to find information on this topic. Then I hope to connect and relate those facts with what has already been discussed in the articles we have read for class pertaining to the same issue. After comparing and analyzing the available information I want to select what seems to be emphasized the most when it comes to my topic and what studies and statistics have shown to render the best results.

I know sometimes it is difficult to control our own bias and opinion when discussing topics that directly relate to us. That is one of the reasons why it is important as critical thinkers to be able to have an interdisciplinary perspective. I realize that we must be able to evaluate the various different sources we are presented with and then compare that with our own thoughts to decide what is most reasonable and logical. All being said I hope that I can successfully implement the use of college level thinking in this project and in all of my other school work as well.
